Legionella and Bacterial Testing and Analysis

Sample. Test. Analyse.

Do you know what’s in your water?
Regular testing to check the quality of your water is an essential part of managing and controlling Legionella risk and meeting compliance with health and safety legislation.

As independent water management specialists, we provide a full range of biological and chemical testing and analysis services covering a wide range of health threats. From Total Viable Count (TVC) testing to estimate the concentration of microorganisms such as bacteria, yeast, fungi and mould spores in your water systems; to testing for specific pathogens such as Legionella, Pseudomonas and E-coli.

The health risks associated with common types of bacteria
Legionella bacteria can cause Legionnaire’s disease if people inhale contaminated water droplets, a potentially fatal form of pneumonia. Pseudomonas bacteria can also cause lung infections and is often antibiotic resistant, posing a significant risk to those with existing lung conditions or weakened immune systems.

E-coli bacteria is commonly found in the guts of people and animals. It doesn’t usually cause any problems in the gut, but if it gets into other areas, via wounds for example, it can cause potentially deadly infections.

We’re here to help
All our testing and analysis services are carried out in our dedicated UKAS-accredited laboratory in strict compliance with UKAS certification and relevant British Standards testing procedures. Our services are registered and approved by the Legionella Control Association, so you can be sure you’re in safe hands.

How does our testing and analysis service work?
Testing is usually completed using the HSE-recommended method of taking a water sample and developing cultures in our UKAS-accredited laboratory, to test for the presence of pathogens. This process usually takes 10-12 days to confirm a result.

We also provide a rapid testing service including PCR and Legipid® testing, which can produce a result in as little as 25 minutes, on-site or in our laboratory. Rapid testing can help identify issues fast, enabling you to act quickly and implement early intervention control measures and mitigate risk.

Our experienced team of water engineers will guide you through the results of testing and analysis, including any corrective actions you need to take.

  • Protect the health and wellbeing of your employees and the general public
  • Maintain regulatory, legislative and environmental compliance
  • Manage and control Legionella, Pseudomonas and E-coli risk
  • Benefit from our water management expertise and UKAS-accredited testing and analysis facilities
