Posted: 01.10.2025

At Genex, we take great pride in celebrating the achievements of our team. Today, we’re proud to celebrate Henry Culloden, who has successfully completed his Water Treatment Apprenticeship with merits. Not only is this a personal milestone for Henry, but it’s also a pioneering moment: he is one of the very first people in the UK to complete this specialist programme.

A Journey of Growth

Apprenticeships gives individuals the platform to build confidence, develop professionalism, and discover where their ambitions can take them. Henry’s journey has been a great example of this. From the very start, he showed enthusiasm and dedication, embracing every opportunity to learn and grow within the team.

The water treatment apprenticeship is a very complex qualification. Designed to provide a thorough grounding in the water industry, it combines technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional application.

Henry’s training involved:

  • Building evidence of his work within the water industry.
  • Passing on-site assessments, professional discussions, and a final exam.
  • Applying professional learning points in real-world settings and presenting proof of his progress.

Every stage required commitment and consistency – qualities Henry demonstrated from the start.

What the Apprenticeship Involved

This apprenticeship covered a broad range of technical areas, giving Henry a strong foundation across multiple aspects of water treatment and compliance. Among the modules he completed were:

  • Advanced Water Chemistry and Microbiology – understanding the science behind water quality.
  • Surveys, Inspections & Water System Drawings – building an accurate picture of how systems function.
  • Water Testing and Analysis – applying technical knowledge in live environments.
  • Evaluating Results & Handling Non-Conformances – making critical decisions when issues arise.
  • Advanced Chemical and Physical Treatment – ensuring water systems remain safe, efficient, and compliant.

Each of these sessions was not just theoretical. Henry was tasked with applying his knowledge on site, producing tangible results, and demonstrating his learning in action.

Recognition with Merits

To complete the apprenticeship alone is a notable achievement, but to finish with merits is a mark of excellence. It reflects Henry’s ability to not just meet, but exceed the expectations of his assessors.

This result highlights his attention to detail, professional approach, and readiness to take on greater responsibilities within the industry.

Reflecting on Henry’s achievement, Carl Cressey, Managing Director at Genex, said:

“We are incredibly proud of Henry for completing his apprenticeship with merits. To be one of the first in the UK to achieve this is a massive achievement. It’s a testament to his hard work, commitment, and passion for the industry. At Genex, we’re dedicated to nurturing talent, and Henry’s success shows just how powerful apprenticeships can be in shaping the future of our sector.”

Why Apprenticeships Matter

At Genex, we believe apprenticeships are a vital pathway for the next generation of talent. They provide hands-on experience, industry-recognised qualifications, and a chance to work alongside experienced professionals. Apprentices like Henry bring fresh ideas, energy, and curiosity – all qualities that strengthen our team and benefit our clients.
