Leisure centre operator praises GENEX’s one-stop-shop approach and software tool

A leading nationwide leisure centre facilities management operator has enjoyed effortless management of the 90-plus facilities it runs across the UK since appointing GENEX to look after the water complianceon all its sites.

And it says the combination of bringing all swimming pool microbiology tests and legionella control management under one umbrella, combined with an efficient and easy-to-use software reporting system are behind the stress-free operation.

The company appointed GENEX last summer, after struggling with using multiple suppliers for different tasks. This led to delays between finding and acting on issues, negatively impacting the smooth running of its complex multi-site operation.

Using GENEX, all services are carried out under one umbrella.

As well as enjoying the transformative nature of the one-stop-shop approach the client is also impressed by the efficient software GENEX uses.

A powerful live compliance software platform – Records for Buildings – means results can be downloaded and acted upon straight away. Carrying out the monthly pool checks, for example, sees the Genex colleague look at the various chlorine levels, temperature and pool load – the number of people in the pool – and the pH. The information is input onto the software via the engineer’s phone and, as it’s stored in the cloud, the client, all the way up to director level, can view these results instantly.

By comparison, the client’s previous experience meant the final microbiological certification listing chlorine levels arrived several days after the sampling was carried out.

If any non-conformances are found, the software sends a notification email with recommendations to the client’s inbox. If it’s urgent, action can be taken straight away, or, if it deems it less pressing, before the next visit.

The legionella control aspect of the compliance checks will see GENEX engineers carry out monthly temperature monitoring, annual Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMV) servicing, annual Cold Water Storage Tanks (CWST) and calorifier inspection among many other Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) tasks. Again, the software will issue an immediate alert, enabling the necessary adjustments to be made while they’re still on site.

Client quote here (without identifying the company)

GENEX technical account manager Mohammad Iqbal said: “As well as helping our new client get on with its business of being one of the country’s leading leisure centre FM operators we are of course ensuring that they abide by the law. These are regulatory issues laid down by the HSE, not optional extras. This is an essential service for all professional and commercial buildings, with the price of non-compliance a potential jail sentence or heavy fine at the very least.”
